Angus or “Flufalufagus” was lucky enough to have littermate/ brother Spotacus visit this past weekend. Spot is much bigger than Gus’ 41 lbs at 15 weeks. He was a delight to visit and the boys had so much fun. Whether going on walks with the kids or an exciting trip to the lake these boys are adorable. They got in the water chest deep, probably no deeper because they couldn’t see down. Well today Spot found his Forever home. We are hoping to keep in touch as he doesnt live to far away. Maybe a playdate at the dog park by Grandma Ecee’s house. (pictures soon)

Our family is over the moon with the addition of our newest family member, Newfoundland Angus! As many call them “Newfy”! He is full of personality, but luckily not too energetic, thus sleeping thru the night young! We so look forward to watching him grow up and seeing his littermates find homes. This is a pup that can complete your family. I am happy to introduce anyone to these amazing dogs if you are looking and the parents are on site!

Clash of the Tight Ones

I had the pleasure of people watching with my dear friend Rebekah this past week. She is my original partner in the fashion police. Wow we found a fashion felony that was quite thought-provoking, but most importantly requires some back- to- basics rule reminders. One of the most important fashion rule/ concept is “Balance”. The aforementioned ”victim” would have only been dressed appropriately for a final in a pole dancing class. She had on a simple waist length sleeveless blouse (the only decent part), crop skin-tight black leggings (gag), paired with sky-high black, platform, faux suede stiletto pumps. You may ask what is a better solution? A great pair of jeans for semi casual or a knee-length pencil skirt or long fitted trouser. Also, only wear shoes you can walk in. Remember stilettos now mean hammer toe later! Skimpy is for the bedroom not public. Leggings work if your rump is covered or if you have the curves of Coco.

Feeling Stud’ly

Make no mistake I claim no description for my taste in fashion besides “eclectic”. I adore the soft floral romantics, mad about plaid, totally nautical, and yes many more! One thing I consider to be a fashion staple for me are “studs” and no not the ones of yesteryears in the clubs. I love the punk/ rock vibe studs can offer, while being practical as an embellishment that lasts. The one hiccup with studs as I hit my mid thirties is not bordering on Cougartown, as I am not a resident! From head to toe their is an application for everyone young and old. A simple studded head band can up the ante of an otherwise drab look. A studded handbag will wonderfully dominate a look. I have mixed with other looks in a pair of gold-heart studded black boots. As with any “trend” studs should not be overdone. Nor should they be sharp. Studs on a choker NEVER look good. An easy application is a solid tank with some stud embellishments. Step it up to be “stud’ly”!

I adore many things. accessories are like old friends, shoes are a hug from that old friend! I am the first to admit I surf daily looking at what the new offerings are. On occasion a bargain pops my way. However, you can not always find a sale on a brand new style. I love giving gifts with meaning and I love the thought friends and family reciprocate with. I tend to celebrate my birthday for a week or so. I have been spoiled by my friends and family thus far. First the time I get to enjoy with them is the most precious and valued of all. My dear friend spoiled me with a pair of black canvas espadrills I had admired. The contrast of straw tone against the black canvas with sling back, peep toe and bow detail were adorable. She snuck back and got them for me. I was over the moon giddy. So here was an amazing evening when my Mom knocked my socks off with a pair beyond words. A soft dove grey peep-toes with gold accents to replace my grey “Go Toos” . These divine Eccos are definitely a fixation. Comfort and style with a time less color. Emotional Overload. I am like a child waiting for Christmas. I can’t kick the smile off my face.

A Berry Good Deal

Being the mall savvy gal that I am, seldom is there a store I miss. I usually venture in for a gander at least. Well there has been an exception made. I have often passed by a store, loving the aesthetic, but fearful of the price tags. It was time for a going of the beaten path. Ecee was buy my side and we had a mission. I need to find a top to showcase a divine confection Ecee has made me. That reveal will be saved for another day. While at the Galleria, en route to Brighton, we popped in “Downeast Basics” A top in the perfect lilac hue caught my eye. I looked at the price tag with hesitation and to my delight saw an orange sticker reading $8.99. It’s mine. The styles were reminiscent of Anthropologie a big-ticket delight. I then saw it was an extra 30% off. SOLD! A retro, black/white polka dot dress was singing to me. After seeing the sales gal wearing it, it required a second look. I commented on how sweet it was, she then let me know it was marked down to $10. It’s mine. I adored the details in their pieces. Little ruffles, pleets, and most importantly being made for WOMEN. Having curves junior sizes won’t cut it. I found them on the internet and was pleased with the substantial discounts, then to top it there was an extra 50% off. Bottom line… I got an outfit for a special occasion, dress and coordinating jacket in boysenberry for $13. The dress was reasonably full priced at $37 and the jacket $45. So $69 saved and the perfect, polished, elegant outfit without breaking the bank. Score.

The Frugal Fashionista

When one’s hobby of choice is shopping, one best be savvy. This day and age the internet is any frugal fashionista’s best friend. I get email updates from all my fave stores. If you don’t want your personal email account cluttered set up one for your shopping! I receive oodles of discounts that I otherwise would not receive. I just signed up at “Express” and received a 15% off coupon, what a score when coupled with the buy one, get one half off they have going! Score! Ulta, Sephora, Mac, American Eagle, and Tilly’s are a few of the ones which if you read you can reap rewards. Kohl has offers aplenty when purchasing a newspaper you receive a spend $20, save $10 often! Love it! As I am one who is very chameleon like in color choices, but I know it is uncommon. I highly recommend a little trial run to see if new make up shades work and that any skin products don’t cause a reaction before purchasing if you are stepping out of your comfort zone. Sephora is always happy to make up a sample for you to try before you buy. I also receive online coupon offers from my favorite craft stores as they are vital in home decor, accessory making and more. Bookstores are another great one to follow for discount coupons. An important thing to remember is it is not a good deal if you don’t have the cash to spare!

Mama & Me-a

I had the most amazing monday in contrast to a normal Manic Monday! I spent the day with my Mom. We started off with a quick trim on Mom’s hair. She has the good fortune of thick hair that grows like a weed. Then it was time for a dose of retail therapy. Out first stop was an unfruitful one to Ulta. I did get to lay my eyes on the new Urban Decay “Alice in Wonderland” palette. A great value for those looking to expand their shadow collection. Next we went to an old fave, the Rack (Nordstrom’s discount rack). To our surprise it is clearance time. Typically it is the clearing of fall’s leftovers. That was not the case. Mom scored two classic Foxcroft blouses with a regular price of $72/$74 for $7.50 a piece. I got 2 amazing tops, the first a short- sleeve, water-color looking top with pintuck neckline detail from $52 to $4! Yes that is over 90% off The second is a vibrant scheme of fuchsias and orange flowers with short sleeves, ruffle neck detail, and gathered at the bottom. This find was $5 from $58. Ahhhh! We collectively scored four pieces perfect for Spring and Summer and many years to come for a savings around $230! That is retail therapy!

VI-X ooh la la

These pieces I have assembled can cater to any body type/height etc.. I have proportion issues unique to me as anyone else does. My husband doesn’t call me an “Amazon or Mantis” for no reason. A couple of things we can all stay clear of is an empire waist (a top or dress that gathers or belts under the bustline). You may be disillusioned thinking it makes you look taller, but it actually creates more of a maternity/Oompa loompa effect. At 5’10 even at my thinnest I can not pull off this look. As we have just had New Years and resolutions/ good intentions are helpful, the lurking of swimmer and the dreaded swimsuit can prove to be even more motivational. I opt for a gut sucking wet suit. but that is a personal choice! With that I am leading into the second half of wardrobe basics that can serve as a daily foundation.

6. A pair of denim look leggings. They are at stores from Target to Macy’s. You can wear them with tunics longer tops, in lieu of tights, and instead of attempting the skinny jean. Take them to cocktail hour with some sassy shoes.

7. A solid tone scoop neck top. This will serve as a layering basic. Choose a more fitted option to wear under vests, or with a tank under.These basics are under $10 at Target and Old Navy, add some pattern for more looks.

8. A statement necklace. This can be a multi stand style, clusters circa Flintstones, or a pendent and chain. A women’s neck is always worth showcasing. This doesn’t need to be an investment. create your own at Micheals, score one on clearance at Macy’s, or check out the baubles at JC Penney.

9. Moisturizer! Nothing looks as good as nourished skin. Whether it is a soft hand, smooth heals, or nourished lips, moisturizer is imperative. Cetaphil or Wal-Mart’s Equate brand make fragrance free, hypo allergenic options that are great on face and body!

10. An amazing sandal. Step out of your normal comfort zone and step into a pair of statement makers.
